The Hughes Zoo

I love Mondays.

After the usual dragging-out-of-bed and cooking porridge routine, Jeremy and I head down to the pool for his swimming lessons. That mostly involves him making as much noise and moving as much water as possible while doing his best to cripple me. After running around the change rooms trying to get dressed, we usually go for a bit of a wander with the pram while having some snacks before heading home for a nap.

As soon as J wakes up we get ready to go for a run. After I’ve dragged myself around pushing the pram for a while, Jeremy takes over. Depending on how he feels, we either run to the park or just run around the lake some more. Either way, Jeremy insists on pushing the pram while he runs, and he does a remarkable job of it.  Then it’s home just in time for the night-time routine.

It doesn’t sound like a lot, but boy it fills the day.

In order to make life a bit easier I’ve updated the Hughes Zoo website design, which will hopefully mean that we update it a bit more often.  Other than looking quite a bit different, everything should work just as it did before, with one exception. The photos page, for the time being, just opens the image without any fanciness. I may or may got get around to fixing it.

Other than that - everything is going well. Will is 10 week old on Monday, and other than being a bit of a fussy daytime sleeper, is doing fantastically. We’ve had quite a few visitors - Nonna and Oma both came down in late October, and we finally caught up with Mark and Ellie for the first time since before Ange and I got married (it’s our 3rd anniversary next week!).

Jeremy is going through the fun of being a 2 and a half year old, but in general is coping well and growing up fast. He’s started toilet training, and other than once incident that’s not worth mentioning, has picked it up quite well.

Despite the lack of site updates, the camera’s still been ticking away. Here’s the albums added since the last update:

Dad’s at work, Jeremy’s at ‘Little School’ and Mum’s doing the budget at home after her sewing machine broke down yesterday. Will’s in the background catnapping.

Will was awake long enough this morning for both of us to say goodbye to Ben & Jeremy at the front door. It had been quite a trying morning for the whole family and it was only just 8:30!

Arnie, Ben & I were woken up by Jeremy, who decided it would be fun to chase Arnie around the house. Arnie escaped through his cat door by the skin of his teeth. Jeremy was not perturbed and went on to wake Will up so he could unwrap him and give him “milk from Jeremy’s nipples”. More un-fun zooing adventures followed right up until Jeremy was given a naughty ‘time-out’ on the couch with Dad for pushing over the rubbish bin.
